Michael Jackson Still Lives Through Music

Where were you when you found out? I know where I was. I was driving down I93N when i received the disturbing text message about the untimely death. I then slammed the breaks and held up traffic for about 15 seconds in disbelief. It was as if someone told me a family member had died. The next thing i remember doing was turning on the radio and on came Michael Jackson. Its like he was telling me through the speakers that he may not be here physically on earth but his will always live through his music.

Michael was a man who preached sharing love with everyone. He sold over 750 million records worldwide to where he donated portions of his wealth to over 30 charities. Michael Jackson wrote “We Are The World” with Lionel Richoe in 1985 to raise money for Africa in 1985. Holds the Guiness World Record for "The Most Successful Entertainer o All Time". Growing up every young boy of all races wanted to dress and dance like Michael Jackson. He preached acceptance with songs like "Man In the Mirror". Who can forget how he beat Michael Jordan in a game of horse in the "Jam" video. He is a ICON.

Michael Jackson broke color barriers. He broke color barriers at MTV when the station would only play rock videos and weren't showing african american artist videos.Yes MTV, the same station that produces shows we all love like Runs House and Making The Band. He also contributed songs like "Black and White" and movies like "Wiz". Where were you when this was going on. I know where I was at home with my brothers memorizing the words to his songs and reinacting the coreograhy to his videos. Some may argue that through all that Michael Jackson sacrificed for the african american community that he paved the way for Pres. Barack Obama to be where he is at today. Before Michael Jacson dropped a video for "Do You Remember" alot of people were in denial that egyptians were black. He opened the eyes of many through his music. He sung about making a change and also acted on it.

I can see Michael Jackson with James Brown by his side now forming a band in heaven with Jimmy Hendrix on the Guitar and Ray Charles on the keys. You'll be missed MJ
